Emailing College Coaches

Short, specific, and easy to act on. Coaches read hundreds of these; the ones that get answered say who you are, why their program, and where the film is — in under 150 words.

1. First contact

2. Follow-up after a camp, visit, or game

What works

Send it yourself, from your own email. Coaches want to hear from the athlete, not a parent.
One specific reason for that program beats five generic ones.
Put the film link near the top. Make sure it opens without a login.
Include your coach's contact information — recruiters will call them.
Follow up every four to six weeks with something new, not "just checking in."
Reply to every response within a day, even if the answer is "not right now."
